💖 Pastagang 💖

how to get users

a lot has happened since the 💖 pastapocalypse 💖 last week.

there's a new 💖 pastagang website and a new pastagang organisation and a new pastagang organisation and a new pastagang organisation. there are also some new tools: reisnudel and ravioli. nudel is a ghostly echo of its final commit but dente 💖 development continues. there are also a bunch of stub projects popping up. projects that don't (yet?) have momentum.

one result of the pastapocalypse is that everything is much more spread out and empty now. there are far fewer people within any one project or tool or room. space has been made. so it's been interesting to start to see people asking for users for specific pastagang things, or expressing sadness or annoyance that there are no users for their preferred pastagang thing.

it has become an advertising challenge. there are so many different things going on now that there is not a lack of space but lack of attention on your favourite one.

somehow we have resurrected the user after 💖 killing them 💖. welcome back to the attention economy where the user is a resource / commodity to be captured / influenced for your ego / goals / whim.

join my room!! help me pastagang!! change this!! you need to get involved!! join now!! why is no one helping with MY thing? do it!! please pastagang!! everyone watch this video right now!! everyone join this chat right now!! come and join in this is really important!!

do it yourself.

for those who don't know, pastagang has had success in the past because its tools are intended for both single player use and multiplayer. if you want a tool to pick up, i encourage you to create conditions where "users" are not needed. that way, people will start to use the tools of curiosity and won't need you to nag them to join.

consider designing for curiosity more generally in your interactions. you don't need to explain everything. let people discover things for themselves.

let the jam do the talking.
