i think deltachat really fits pastagang because it has no permission system. everyone is admin. its also not centralized so it has no single authority. everyone can choose which relay to use and how many relays they want to use. it is good. it also isnt broken, which matrix often is in my experience.
arcanechat isn't very 💖 friendly 💖, but deltachat is not arcanechat.

i disagree that we need to use a bad chat platform because e.g. in the matrix case it fails at being at least usable to most users
just swinging by to say it's ridiculous to equate delta chat to discord. maybe stoat is i dunno I've never tried it. there really is no free lunch though. by choosing one platform you exclude others. all of the chats mentioned above are really techy and not accessible. theres not much chat about that here. if you ask me, newcomers don't realise that pastagang's successful strategy so far has been to have chats present EVERYWHERE in as many places as possible. people pick the right chat for them. it's all the same. you reach pastagang either way via a different head. now get back to jamming
i agree to an extent but if there are too many places that all contain few members it can be hard to actually form a community through them
if no one is using a platform it doesn't matter how good it is
this is less of an issue for pastagang since everyone is pastagang but i guess you're reaching less pastagang in some cases

this is not jamming this is yapping. jamming involves doing, not chatting. that's where the mantra "shut up and jam" comes from.
it's okay, the community has formed . we need less community. we need to spread out to make space.
you can't tell pastagang what to do (i mean you can if you want but it won't work very well. i'd also add that the percentage of people who uses any of these chats represents a tiny percentage of active pastagangers. the majority use none of them and don't want to join a pastagang chat)
if you want to use a chat tool for pastagang discussion, feel free to use it. you're allowed to decree it an "official" chat because it's pastagang. if you think people shouldn't use a different chat tool you're welcome to makea case to them but if they don't listen then that's up to them. people have free will. not everyone is gonna see your vision of what pastagang is and should be and should do. you are not in charge
my advice is: make space and wait. let it grow naturally. share what you're doing in that space without forcing people or demanding people join, and you'll start to find your people naturally :)
oh i just remembered another thing: it's funny to read ppl saying that the signal chat never picked up because it was never really intended to pick up. it was originally made as a group chat for all the pastagangers at an in-person event (ICLC) and we just kept it open afterwards and continued to use it for organising other in-person events like Alpaca and AMRO. since then it's become kinda overloaded by other things, Which is okay (let code die). so if anything, the problem with the signal is that it got too popular!! haha! please spread out so we can get more space for more organising. we kinda switched to the discord for AMRO organising because of this and its been working okay. its okay you don't need to use it though.
